How to Run a Successful Business

In the 1996 movie "Jerry Maguire," Tom Cruise's rendition of the title character writes a mission statement reflecting his newly rediscovered morality. Unfortunately, the large company that he works for fires him for his creative endeavor.

We all have those moments of clarity. My first instinct is to write, "It's what we do with them that matters." However, life isn't black and white; there are a lot of gray tones nestled into those pixels. And it's precisely those gray tones that prevent many of us from exercising our right to express our opinions. Because at the end of the day, opinion is not fact, even if it's based on facts.

Still, good for Tom (Cruise). He ends the movie with a successful company, a wife that he's grown to love, and a read-made family. Gotta love Hollywood.
